Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") describes fundraisers, conduct, and use of the MomoPay wallet and "mchango" fundraising feature that are prohibited. This Policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service. Violating this Policy may result in a mchango being suspended, funds being refunded to donors, and your account being suspended or closed.

1. Sanctioned Persons and Prohibited Jurisdictions

You may not use MomoPay if you are, or a mchango you create or benefit from involves:

  • An individual or entity on any applicable sanctions or restricted-party list, including lists maintained by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the United Nations, the UK HM Treasury, the European Union, or other sanctions authorities with jurisdiction over MomoPay or its service providers;
  • A country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions or embargoes under applicable law; or
  • Funding or support, directly or indirectly, for terrorism, terrorist organizations, or any other activity prohibited under applicable anti-money-laundering or counter-terrorist-financing law.

2. Prohibited Fundraisers and Activity

You may not use MomoPay to create, promote, or contribute to a fundraiser that:

  • Is fraudulent, deceptive, or misrepresents the fundraiser's purpose, beneficiary, or use of funds;
  • Funds illegal activity, weapons, ammunition, or explosives;
  • Involves illegal drugs or controlled substances;
  • Funds gambling, wagering, or games of chance where prohibited by applicable law;
  • Promotes hate speech, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group;
  • Involves adult content, sexual services, or exploitation of any kind, including of minors;
  • Infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party; or
  • Falls within a category identified as prohibited or restricted by our payment and infrastructure providers, including Stripe's Prohibited and Restricted Businesses policies, as updated from time to time.

3. Platform and Account Misuse

You may not:

  • Create or use a mchango or wallet account under a false identity or on behalf of someone else without authorization;
  • Attempt to circumvent our identity verification, transaction limits, or fraud controls;
  • Use automated means to create accounts, fundraisers, or donations in a manner that abuses the Service; or
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.

4. Reporting a Concern
